Get Outside and Play Haysboro

We are thrilled to share exciting plans in the works to help Haysboro celebrate Get Outside and Play Week.

What is Get Outside and Play Week?

The Alberta Council for Environmental Education (ACEE) is sponsoring a “Get Outside and Play Week” during May 28th- June 2nd .  This week is meant to encourage outdoor play for those aged 0-5 years old.

What do I need to do now?

  • Save the dates for the exciting events we have planned.
  • Come prepared to have fun! This means weather appropriate clothes, snacks when needed, and be ready to play and learn!
  • Share the information with your friends! These events are not just for Haysboro residents. We are thrilled to invite all families and groups to join in our fun.

Monday, May 28th, 9:30-am-11am

Join Devon Karchut of TimberNook for a morning of sensory-rich outdoor play experiences such as a mud kitchen and large scale loose parts play. The activities are tailored for the 0-6 crowd, but all ages are sure to find inspiration!

*be prepared that your child may get dirty or wet at this event*

The Book Truck

Tuesday, May 29th

11:00 AM- 12:30 PM


The Calgary Public Library Book Truck will be joining us for some outdoor reading fun.

Come ready to read, learn, and play. 

Professor Ant

 Wednesday, May 30th

Time: 11:15am -12:15pm

Ages: 3-5 year old

Program: Professor Ants

Let Prof. Ants entertain your class with thrilling activities about bugs! Hunt for bug parts and then put the giant bugs together all the while learning about Insects. Lots of bug games are all part of the fun.


Friday, June 1st


We will be hosting a “stay and play” picnic on Friday June 1st

Open to the whole community. 

Bring your picnic or bring  a hot dog to roast on the fire

Preschool Program

May 28- June 2

During Preschool Hours

Throughout the week, the preschool will purposely plan their curriculum to include increased outdoor time and a focus on playing in nature.

If you are a preschool parent willing to volunteer with this week, please talk to your preschool teacher. All help is so appreciated.

Haysboro Picnic Partners

All residents, families, and friends are invited to join us for an exciting group play date at the Haysboro Community Nature Park. 


Our Book Truck Partners

The Book Truck, brought to you by the Calgary Public Library is stopping by and welcoming community members on board for a number of cool activities. Remember to pack your library card so you can take out any books that interest you. This Book Truck is just like a library on wheels. Get ready to:

  • register for a free Library card
  • browse and borrow from our collection of 1,500 books and movies
  • return Library items
  • attend children’s programs (seasonal) 
  • sit and read outside at our pop-up reading lounge (seasonal)
